Dr. Renée Shellhaas receives the Child Neurology Society 2024 Hower Award

Neonatal Seizure Registry Investigator and co-founder Dr. Renée Shellhaas is the recipient of the Child Neurology Society’s 2024 Hower Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to a child neurologist who is highly regarded as an outstanding teacher and scholar and additionally has given a high level of service to the Child Neurology Society. Dr. Shellhaas’ research efforts have advanced approaches to seizure detection, improved treatment and prediction of long-term outcomes of children with neonatal seizures. Her work also explores the impact of sleep-disordered breathing on neurodevelopment in high-risk newborns. Congratulations Dr. Shellhaas!


Child Neurology Society Conference: September 29-October 2nd, 2021 

Neonatal Seizure Registry investigator Dr. Monica Lemmon is the recipient of the Child Neurology Society Philip R. Dodge Young Investigator Award, which is given annually in recognition of basic or clinical research by promising young investigators who are members of the CNS. Dr. Lemmon’s research efforts span three primary areas, including decision making for critically ill children, patient-clinician communication, and stakeholder engagement in research. Her work with the NSR highlights the importance of parent communication for families of newborns with neurological conditions. Congratulations Monica!
